Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.
But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss? (Goodreads)
I read this over the summer while sitting on a train, speeding across Italy during my travels, and that made the whole experience of this well-loved novel all that much more fun. I swear this has been on my TBR for years! I've heard so many good things that I'll admit, I was a little wary of starting the book--what if it didn't live up to my expectations? Thankfully I had nothing to worry about. I really loved the experience of stepping into Paris in Anna's shoes, and all that went on with her family and friends. The characters lept off the pages and I thoroughly loved the story. There were definitely a few time that I wished Anna and St. Clair would just have a decent conversation because, well, that's just one of those pet peeves of mine--people should just talk! But that would relieve the tension for about every romance novel ever written, haha! Still, the atmosphere, the characters, and the intriguing setting, delivered a wonderful novel that I deeply enjoyed.
Have you caught this one? What about the companion novels--were they are good?
I loved Anna and the French Kiss! I read it when it first came out and it's still one of my favorite YA novels. The companion novels were good but they didn't quite reach the awesomeness of Anna, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteWhat an idyllic setting to read this book.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteOh, I've only read Lola and the Boy Next Door. I love the guy there. I bet I'm gonna love this too.
ReplyDeleteI can understand being nervous about reading a book you've been looking forward to in case it didn't match up to your expectations and hopes. Glad this one didn't let you down.
ReplyDeleteThis has been on my list for ages too. Sounds like you read it at the right time and in an great location. :) Glad it was as good as you heard it was. :)
