First off, a big Hello to all my new followers! (I'd say Howdy, but I only live in Montana...) Nice to meet you all! I hope you'll stick around and join in the conversation :)
So, I've been thinking about how lucky I am lately to have such awesome people who have helped me with my writing over the years. There are too many to list, but I appreciate them all and count many as dear friends (even if I've never met you and generally our emails are filled with the angst that comes from being a newly published author, lol!). Anyhow, I thought I'd do something to pay it forward a bit--hopefully you'll be interested!
Here's what I want you to answer in your comment (other than what you want to be entered for, and a way to get ahold of you): what do you think you're strengths are?
(This may sound a little random, but I think we sometimes forget to think about what we're actually good at and get too caught up in what we need/want/have to be better at. It could do us all a little good to remember that there has to be something you're good at--even if it is Tetris-ing everything into the dishwasher like no one else!)
That is super duper nice of you! It always feels easier to talk about my weakness. Strength, huh? Maybe I could say that I have a fierce determination. That's a good thing, right? Anyway I'd love a 1st chapter critique :)

DeleteCute idea! I'm super grateful to have found a writer friend in you. Let's see, I'm strong with plot, knowing when to cut or add scenes, seeing the thread of the story and how it pulls the reader through. It's the details I have to go always go back in and add (oh, wait, we're focusing on strengths...scratch that last comment then.)

DeleteMeradeth--I love the question at the end of this post. I realized that one of my greatest strengths is that I take care--yup, I'm a caretaker personality, which can be co-dependent--but nowadays I take care in healthy ways and of what truly matters: my family, friends, pets, my passions and first of all myself (put your oxygen mask on first, then assist others).

DeleteHi Meradeth, great question. I think my asset is helping others, knowing when to cut words or scenes. Even switching paragraphs for a better flow. lol. Now all I need is to do that with mine.
