After Reading: Die For Me
In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.
When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.
Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.
I just finished reading this on my loooong flight from Tokyo to Vancouver and I had to post about it. Why? Because if you like this book, you will totally love Colors Like Memories :) No, they are not totally similar, but they definitely have some similar elements (people saving humans, immortality, love stories, star-crossed lovers, you know, that kind of fun stuff). Anyhow, needless to say, I rather liked reading this. I liked Kate's thoughts, her strength, and her dealing with some really horrible things that happened to her. I think her reactions were really true-to-life (especially with the death of her parents), and I liked that. My only quibble was it took too long to get to the action and introduction of the bad guy. I liked the build-up and never felt like the story was lacking for not having the nemesis present, but once he showed up I was left going "um, he should have been here from the start!" At any rate, a fun read, and I'm looking forward to grabbing the sequel soon!
Has anyone else read this one?
