Can you ever really trust a vampire?
Cassandra Palmer can see the future and communicate with spirits - talents that make her attractive to the dead and the undead. The ghosts of the dead aren't usually dangerous; they just like to talk ... a lot.
The undead are another matter.
Like any sensible girl, Cassie tries to avoid vampires. But when the bloodsucking mafioso she escaped three years ago finds Cassie again with vengeance on his mind, she's forced to turn to the vampire Senate for protection.
The undead senators won't help her for nothing, and Cassie finds herself working with one of their most powerful members, a dangerously seductive master vampire - and the price he demands may be more than Cassie is willing to pay ..... (Goodreads)
Whoa, welcome to August everyone! I can't believe the summer is winding down. It always goes far too quickly!
I really enjoyed this book! I've been up for some summer reads: fun and interesting, allowing me to fall into a story and just enjoy it. While this was a little dark for a beach read, it definitely kept me entertained. The world Chance builds is intricate and she does a great job explaining all the ins and outs of how it works. Lots of action and twist and turns to keep the story moving. It was a little strange that the novel is basically just a few long scenes that are full of all kinds of little asides and stories, which sometimes did bog down the pacing a bit, but it still kept me reading. If you're up for a fun paranormal romp, this is one I definitely recommend!
How's August starting for you all? Any fun plans this month?
I've never heard of this book before, but I love the cover. It's a littly creepy.

ReplyDeleteThat definitely sounds like a different format, but different can be good! And I agree w/Michelle, creepy!
