Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs. The trick with found things, though, is how easily they can be lost. (Goodreads)
People, this series, just, *sigh*...it's so good. I really don't even have words for it. The characters are fantastic. The world is intricate and magical yet feels so real at the same time. And the writing, as ever, is amazing. My only real issue with it is that I wish I could write like that ;) I'm a bit behind on the series, but am vowing to catch the last one as soon as I can. Even if I'm not sure I really want the series to end!
Anyone caught this series? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
I tried the first book and made it 50 pages in before putting it down. The author has a beautiful way with words, but her balance of detail/character building to plot just doesn't grab me. It was the same with her Shiver series. Here's a classic example of how subjective books are, eh?
ReplyDeleteI confess I haven't picked up any of Maggie's books yet. I've been trying to get Raven Boys, but it's never in at my library.
ReplyDeleteOMG! One of my favorite fantasy series! I recently finished up the last book. And I hear she's working on another series in this same world with Ronan as the main character. Le sigh...he's my fav!
ReplyDeleteI've been putting this series off, just because I don't want to leave it. You know? I've got The Raven King on my tbr list and I'm already lamenting finishing it. She's my favorite author. I love her words. All of her words. Ever.
ReplyDeleteThe cover is amazing :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I've heard of the series before, off hand. The cover's quite striking.
ReplyDeleteI'll take your word for it. Adding this to my reading list.I miss this kind of feeling after a series. The last time was with HP.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to read books by this author for FOREVER! I am glad you are enjoying this one and I definitely need to read something by her soon. :)
ReplyDeleteThis isn't my type of thing, but I can SO relate to envying a writer's ability. That just happened to me. I'm trying to write a MG mystery because I LOVE mysteries, but I read a book by a NYT bestseller that is just amazingly good. "Reese Witherspoon bought the movie rights" good. I like to believe it helps us improve to read these types of books, right?!
