Anyhow, it's been a while since I did a random give, so here goes:
- Today is the last day of classes. I think this deserves a giant HALLELUJAH! Of course, this is pending whether or not I actually survive said day :)
- I just did another round of revisions on my NA sci-fi, An Absence of Light. I kinda love this book, and am begging the book gods that it goes places. See, this is my public plea!
- The temperatures in Montana have officially hit the WTF mark. As in, below zero and BRRR! Have I mentioned that I'm not a winter person? No? Because I so long for a sundress and flip-flops right now.
- I have my first book signing this Sunday and I am desperately nervous. Any tips from seasoned professionals out there? Because I'm totally all ears! (Or eyes, I guess, but you get the idea)
- I had some fun over on Pinterest, perusing the images on final exams. I posted a ton on my slides for today, because I couldn't stop laughing. This is my personal favorite at the moment:
But this is one I'm showing to my students:
Because it never fails to make me laugh!
Happy Friday everyone!!
Love the pics! Good luck on your book signing.
ReplyDeleteCramming never helped me out. If I knew the material great if not, then all the staying up drinking coffee while I stared at my notes and books was pointless.
I honestly don't think cramming helps anyone ever. At least, that's been my experience teaching. Then again, I'm like a professional student, so who knows? :)
DeleteBook signings are so much fun! I was so nervous at my first one, but it turned out to be a great time. I loved meeting the people and talking to them about what they like/don't like. It's a lot of fun...just let yourself enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteAnd happy last day of class day!! Email or txt me so I know you're still alive. LOL!
Michelle
Good to know! I think I'm going to bake cookies to lure people into conversation :) (That doesn't make me sound creepy does it??) I'll definitely text you to let you know I lived :)
DeleteNope. Haven't done a book signing, yet. Hey, bring along cheese and it will all work out. =)
ReplyDeleteAs for the cold weather... As a full blooded Floridian now, I'll tell you what, you adapt quickly. I need a jacket if it's below 75, and a coat if it's in the 60's. Seriously--this from the girl who wouldn't touch a jacket until it dipped below 40 all growing up.
I keep hoping I'll adapt! So far, I have about ten layers on :) Maybe someday...once my toes fall off!
DeleteThis post is just as good as a Sary in the real world story because it contains such great news! Congrats on reaching the end of the semester and on your upcoming book signing. Proud of you, girl! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks!! Two more classes to go before the end of it! :)
DeleteCongrats on reaching the end of the semester! Such a good feeling. I always felt sad and happy on the last day saying goodbye to my students (I taught a grad school class for 7 years, but the enrollment has been down in the program and I didn't teach this year).
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of a Sary story I can contribute. When I have one I will let you know! I had one a week ago and should have jotted it down. It will come back to me- they are all around us. :)
I'd LOVE a Sary story!! And I'll admit there are a few students I'm sad to see go...but a few I'm not :)
DeleteLoved the pics! And have fun at your book signing, that's so cool! I wished I lived closer so I could come, tho you can keep those low digits to yourself- brrr.
ReplyDeleteI wish you could come, too! But I'll admit, these temps are no fun! It was -5 on my way to writing group this morning.
DeleteBack in the day when I was writing exams instead of supervising them, I'd get myself geared up by picturing the exam as my opponent, and only one of us was coming out alive.
ReplyDeleteHah! I'll have to tell that to my students! It's going to be a knock-down, drag-out on Monday :)
DeleteLOL... love the pictures, especially the one about studying! It's cold here as well, and it's supposed to be stormy tonight. Eek! So glad I'll be cozied up, drinking hot chocolate. YAY for the book signing. :)
ReplyDeleteCozy with a good book sounds utterly perfect right now :)
DeleteLove the pictures and post:) Congrats for your first book signing:)
ReplyDeleteThanks!! :)
DeleteI have winter break in two weeks and can't wait. Have a fantastic time off.
ReplyDeleteI prefer to do signings with another author(s) or at conferences. It's less stressful.
I'd love doing a signing like that--it would totally be less stress! Going to make a note and hope that someday that's something I can do. And hope you have a wonderful break!!
