I'm super excited to be taking part in Crystal's book release blog fest! Have you had a chance to check out MOONLESS yet?
In the English society of 1768 where women are bred to marry, unattractive Alexia, just sixteen, believes she will end up alone. But on the county doorstep of a neighbor’s estate, she meets a man straight out of her nightmares, one whose blue eyes threaten to consume her whole world—especially when she discovers him standing over her murdered host in the middle of the night.
Her nightmares become reality: a dead baron, red-eyed wraiths, and forbidden love with a man hunted by these creatures. After an attack close to home, Alexia realizes she cannot keep one foot in her old life and one in this new world. To protect her family she must either be sold into a loveless marriage, or escape with her beloved and risk becoming one of the Soulless.
Okay, this is NOT an easy question to answer! I mean, how does one pick?? :) After sitting here trying to come up with answers, I'm going to actually have two--one that's familiar, and one that's not. The first would be Jassen, who is the male lead in my next release (Surrender the Sky, due out in a few months!!), because, well, he's kind of my imagination's favorite character. You all will just have to wait to meet him! As for someone a little more familiar, I'm rather partial to Jem from the Infernal Devices books by Cassandra Clair. Sign me up for one of those! :)
Okay, your turn: who would you pick??
The rest of the entries should be awesome, and don't forget to join in on the giveaway!
And, Crystal's publisher is offering a $2.00 coupon for those who are interested. Check it:

I'm not sure because what if there is no spark in the end? And since I read romances, the heroes are already taken. They're perfect for their heroines. Having said that, Kellan Kyle from the Thoughtless series please!
ReplyDeleteThe lack of spark thing is totally a concern...but I think I'd find a way to deal. Plus, I have a few friends with actual arranged marriages and they've made it work--some spectacularly. It's really interesting to see!
DeleteAh Jem! He is amazing. --And now I'm super excited to meet Jassen. He's sounds epic.
ReplyDeletelol, Jassen is mine! Just so we're clear ;) And, yes, totally Jem! He's, well, a jem!
DeleteJassen sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear more about him.
Heather
Yay! I'm excited, too :)
DeleteOoh, Jassen is a great name! I want to find out more.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fun one! Though I hate that spell-check always reminds me that it's not correct :)
DeleteVery clever picking one of your characters. I would've picked the hero from my supernatural-thriller series, but that wouldn't be fair as I have no idea when they will be published.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for "Surrender the Sky" to come out so I can meet Jassen. BTW, I love how you spelled his name! :D
It's still fair to pick your own characters--pubbed or not :) I'm glad you like how I spelled it. Honestly, it was a mistake at first, then I was all "wait, I love that!" lol!
DeleteSo using your example I will pick someone from literature.
ReplyDeleteThis is Galadriel from The Lord Of The Rings. I do like Cate Blanchett!
Love it!! Definitely a good pick :)
DeleteYeah, Jem would definitely make an arranged marriage worth it! :-)
ReplyDeleteRight? *Swoons* :)

ReplyDeleteHi, Meradeth.
ReplyDeleteSorry I had to delete previous for spelling your name wrong.
Nice to meet you. I actually am familiar with Jem.... interesting choice. I met Cassandra Clare at a SCBWI writers conference in NYC a few years back. She is AWESOME!
ALL THE BEST TO CRYSTAL!
Thanks! I honestly don't mind people spelling my name wrong (I'm used to it), but I appreciate it! I'm extremely jealous that you've met Cassandra Clare--I would love to some day!
DeleteI love that you chose one of your own characters! The thought did cross my mind... Looking forward to reading about this Jassen--he sounds like a great guy!

I couldn't resist. I mean, that's one of my favorite parts of writing: creating the perfect male specimen :)
DeleteIt's great to create your own lover.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie Junebug
Except when, ya know, he doesn't exist in real life, haha! :)
DeleteI like that you chose your own character! It's much easier to write male leads when you are a little bit in love with them yourself!!
ReplyDeleteIt may be cheating a little here, but it's still easier to pick that way :)
DeleteHa! I picked Will, though there's a soft spot in my heart for Jem, too!
ReplyDeletelol! That's awesome :) Love those books!
DeleteCrystal's book does sound intriguing!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to pick, in such an instance (going with someone else, since this is the second post along these lines I've seen today) Felicia Hardy of the Spider-Man titles. It's that whole cat thief devil may care attitude she's got.
That's awesome! I can get that one :)
DeleteJim's the second character from that series I've seen today. Yay for Crystal! Her book is awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteI saw that, too! Pretty funny, really :) It's a great series!
DeleteI think my comment got eaten. :(
ReplyDeleteSo happy for Crystal! I have been seeing Moonless all over the blogosphere today. An arranged marriage would be hard for me, but I would beg for Neil Gaiman and Jim Dale. Neil because I love his books and find him interesting and Jim because he reads the Harry Potter series and I love his voice. He could read me anything and I would be happy. :)
~Jess
Sorry about blogger--it seems to do that from time to time... And I love your choices! Very good picks :)
DeleteMoonless is waiting patiently on my Kindle. Aragorn from Lord of the Rings or Mr. Darcy would be my arranged marriage fantasies. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteAragorn--totally didn't think of him, but that would be some pick! :)
Deletelove how you use your own characters!
ReplyDeleteI think it may be cheating a little, but hey, why not? :)
DeleteI did not pick my own created character, but he is dreamy, at least to me. Gotta love your own creation, right?
ReplyDelete.....dhole
Totally! That's the fun of creating your own :)
Deletehehe creating your own pick is the way to go ;)
ReplyDeleteI thought so! :)
DeleteI'd want Jon Snow from the series A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE by George RR Martin.
ReplyDeleteNice pick!
DeleteI'm not familiar with Clare's books. This is a tough question, but I'd want to pick a celebrity. Yay for Crystal.
ReplyDeleteI'd be cool with a celebrity :) At least one that wasn't too terribly hounded by the press!
DeleteYour imagination's favorite character. Interesting.
ReplyDeletelol, maybe, maybe not! :)
DeleteI'm not familiar with either :) I have read lots of the Mortal Instruments but not the Infernal Devices (any) yet.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely recommend the Infernal Devices when you can! And Jassen's story will be released soon :)
DeleteCongrats on your book release, Crystal. :) Oooh great choice, Mer. I love Jem. I look forward to meeting Jassen . :)
ReplyDeleteJem is awesome! And I hope you like Jassen :)
